Caressing

Competition
Festival des Architectures VIVES, Montpellier, FRANCE
COLLABORATION WITH ELIAS LINDHOFF

The installation creates a strong expression with the most simple means. The construction consists only of two components – transparent plastic cable ties and thin wooden slaths tied together to form a loop. The length of the loop is too big for the courtyard, big enough to push itself against the walls of the courtyard, in its attempt to form a circle. The loops will curve and transform according to the shape of the particular courtyard, like a bubble of air captured in water, trying to escape.

The thin circles both animate and add resistance to the empty volume of the courtyard, they seem to resist the volume and at the same time enlarge the room by their form.
